Saturday 29th of November at 5pm
You are invited to join us at the Byron Community Centre for the Social Inclusion Week 2014 Concert, which this year will host a sensational celebration of music across the generations.
So come along and be a part of this once-a-year event.
Entry to the Concert is by donation with all the funds raised going to support the on-going operation of Liberation Larder, a volunteer organisation whom every week provide free meals of quality nutritious food to the most vulnerable members of our community.
This year’s Concert is gathering together a diverse collection of musicians, from The Byron Bay Public School Choir to The Byron Elder Beats and everyone imbetween – The Bay Singers, The Ukuladies, The Louie and Patrick Duo – all together in the Byron Theatre.
It promises to be a fantastic afternoon of musical and celebratory community goodness.
Festivities kick off from 5pm, with the musical performances followed by some complimentary post-show food platters thanks to Liberation Larder.
Come along, bring your friends, and have a fabulous fun afternoon of feeling the good community vibes of Byron’s most socially inclusive week of fun!
The Bay Singers are a community choir who meet at the Byron Community Centre each week. Anyone interested in taking part in this is welcome to join in on Mondays at 10.30am. Songs, including folk, pop, rounds, and spirituals, are led by Liz Swain of Song Dynasty Music.
The Byron Bay Public School Choir, directed by Heda Sherab, are in high demand throughout the Northern Rivers and beyond. Their most recent performances have been at the Sydney Opera House where they participated in the annual all schools music festival.
The Byron Elder Beats have been beating their drums, dancing to their beats, and having masses of fun doing it at the Community Centre every week for the past couple of years. The high-energy and entertaining musical session takes place on Tuesdays at 10.30am in the Theatre and is open to seniors. It is directed by Gareth Jones of Sound Synergy.
The Ukuladies is a small group of women who started playing together in Singapore. Now they are back in Australia and wooing audiences with their music. At the Concert they will play some of their original compositions as well as accompanying singers in old time favourites, with audience participation actively encouraged!
Louie and Patrick are a young acoustic duo from Byron Bay who love nothing more than sitting on the back porch and strumming a new tune. Having played together for nearly five years in a multitude of acts spanning across music of all genres, Louie and Patrick’s music is a return to the simple and honest pop songs of old. Influenced by the likes of Kings of Convenience, Simon & Garfunkle and many more in between, they hope their close harmonies and quiet songs will captivate audiences young and old alike from all walks of life.
